Most Important Long-Term Success Skill? Honesty

Agents can maximize referrals and the number of returning customers if they can get current customers to say, “They’re nice and I trust them.”

NEW YORK – Real estate agents can improve their customer service skills through personalized touches, and it all starts by being upfront and honest.

One trust-fostering skill is the ability to assure each side of a transaction that their needs are being met, and that the agent is constantly looking out for them. To do that, agents should familiarize buyers with the current inventory, average home price, activity and general transactional process.

For sellers, they should collaborate with sellers on presentation and marketing for their property, while providing a realistic view of their home’s value.

Agents should also proactively anticipate clients’ needs and ask questions to know where clients are coming from. They should practice early and frequent follow-up with leads, and consider using a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tool to help keep tabs on leads, contact history, and need-to-know data about everyone in their client base.
